Whether corruption can be removed in India?

Corruption is a global phenomena. Its virus spread everywhere is getting strengthened day by day. The Central Vigilance Commissioner who is responsible to unearth and eradicate corruption in the country himself face corruption charges. Alas, Indian Judiciary is also not free from it. Our politicians and bureaucrats are already immersed in large scale corruption. Indians are in an unbeatable No.1 position of accumulating black money invested in foreign bank accounts. Honesty has become a word found in dictionary only. What a shame it is.
It is not at all possible to eradicate corruption because its roots are very strongly cemented in Indian soil. Now, at this stage we can only minimize it that too if the authorities selflessly, sincerely and whole heartedly work for it and punish the guilty without looking to the face of the individual. But, our rulers appear to be sleepy and reluctant on this subject. It may be due to the very reason that they themselves involved in it. Who will bell the cat then. Let us therefore adjust with the situation that is the only way out for the common man.

No country of the world has been able to root out corruption nor will India be able to do so.. Since human beings are made differently there will always be a mix of good human beings and bad human beings in India. At times good people will be more and at times the bad people will be more. The effort of any society has to be to maximize the number of good people and reduce to the minimum the number of bad people. For this the government has to make strict laws so that the corrupt cannot escape. The criminal justice system of India is lethargic and inefficient. It has to be made quick and efficient. The departmental superiors have to ensure that their subordinates do not indulge in corruption and if they do, they are dealt with promptly and adequately. Sad, there has been erosion of value system in India. This has to be rectified. The recent quick trial of a Lt. Gen. of the Army on chargeof involvement in a land scam lends hope that the system has
not totally collapsed and has resilience. . Mark Twain had once said, Corruption is like weather. Every one knows about it but no one can do anything about it. But, sure, something can be done to protect ourselves from it as we can do something to protect ourselves from inclement weather. This something is to build public opinion for a clean and transparent government and refuse to cooperate with the corrupt.

Corruption can be eradicated from India provided people from all walks of life maintain a high level of honesty, integrity and morality. Also, India can become a nation free of corruption if the problems of poverty, illiteracy and malnutrition are addressed. There should be stringent laws in the country so that people are discouraged in taking recourse to means that are not correct. People invent new methods of cheating the government and the public. To prevent this, strong laws that have no loopholes should be enacted.
At the time of elections, big industrialists fund politicians to meet high costs of election and later on seek personal favours. This is also a prime example of corruption. Similarly, slum dwellers steal electricity from the overhead electricity poles and the government's and the public money gets wasted. These things can be averted provided there is a strong and proactive administration. Eradicating corruption completely will take time but nevertheless corruption can be removed. There should be zero tolerance towards people who are corrupt. And then people will hesitate to do things that are not in the interests of the country.

Corruption is dishonest or illegal behaviour of persons in authority, they do so for minting money or for some kind of gains. As a matter of fact corruption is the act or effect of making somebody change from moral to immoral standard of behaviour. Corruption is just like termite when it enters in any system it increases by leaps and bounds so it is essential to curb it at any cost.
Nowadays corruption is rampant not only in our country but throughout the world. It is a matter of deep concern for us that in spite of having so many prevention of corruption acts and agencies like CVC, CBI, CAG, CIC and Supreme Court of India, we are unable to remove corruption in our country. Our newspapers are replete with the news of corruption and scams. How to remove corruption from India, seems to be a difficult task under the prevailing circumstances when people from all rank and file are indulging in corruption.
But, we firmly believe in nothing is impossible in this world so if we and our government will be hell bent upon to remove corruption from the country we will certainly succeed in removing corruption from our country. For that purpose government should take stern action against the corrupt persons. Properties of such persons should be confiscated. Speedy trial should be of corruption cases & severe punishment should be given to the corrupt persons.

It is a good question that has come on the eve when leading newspaper headlines bombard us "IAS couple worth Rs. 360 crore "is making us dump struck. What is really happening in our country is pretty clear. Your question 'Whether corruption can be removed in India" can be honestly answered only by those who are engaged in it. And one is clear that they will never do it as their conscience (if there is one) won't allow them. Now, look at the Joshi couple worth Rs. 360 crores. How and why they have amassed such ill gotten wealth.
Based at Bhopal, doing State services of the level of Principal Secretary, they reportedly owned 14 flats in Guwahati. Imagine the way these corrupt people are puncturing the development of this country at their own self development. That itself is evident enough that the politician-bureaucrat nexus is the root cause of corruption. Therefore, it is they who have to take the lead role of removing corruption from India.
Today, when aam admi is facing hand-to-mouth situation, their ordinary onion, dal, roti, kapada and makan are becoming nightmarish and when we see situations in Tunisia, Sudan and other Arab nations, where even repressive, autocratic and dictatorial regimes are brought down by people, it is time for these corrupt elements in our country to voluntarily declare their ill-gotten wealth and surrender it to the exchequer, so that the country can avoid a revolutionary situation in the not too distant future. People are now really fed up with the rising petrol, diesel, gas and other essential commodity prices that go on increasing day-by-day. Murders are taking place in posh localities where such corrupt people who amassed wealth and are enjoying life.
There is no police or other law enforcing agencies to avert it. The biggest threat to our peace is empty stomach. No rule of law can apply against it. Sensible people must wake up and take the lead role in bringing the corrupt politicians, bureaucrats, industrialists and other mafias who have looted the nation at ease and have shored up the national wealth at their kitty, to get it surrendered, the earlier the better. Otherwise, the situation will turn for worse in the coming days.

A bad thing or system which enters in India that is adopted in India never goes out of it. We have adopted it as our culture and therefore it is a need in every walk of life. We have increased our needs and to fulfill them legal source of money is not much sufficient and therefore we adopt the most shortest cut of corruption as in India the procedure for getting any work done is very long and there is every opportunity to delay the work unless the other person does not bribe.
For example if the second party has deposited certain money in the court for payment to be made to the first party and if first party wishes to withdraw it he has to apply for it. As per rule three days time will be fixed for getting the details of money deposited. Thereafter the court will look in to the matter and if first party is found entitled to it the court will order the Reader to prepare voucher for he same. The Reader will take at least a day for doing so. Thereafter the voucher will be sent to Treasury or Nazarat (cash cell) for payment. There again he has to prove his identity and only then the person can hope to get money. But if one pays bribe the work can also be done in a day. Santhanam Committee(1962-64) has said that the corruption is virtually ‘speed money’ to get the genuine work done.
Therefore it is the procedural system everywhere that allows corruption. In an article by Shivshaankar Arora it was well said in this way which is submitted to the readers with curtsey as follows:
“The great philosopher –reformer Edmond Burke was right when he warned that corrupt influence which is a perennial spring of all disorders, takes away vigour from our arms, wisdom from our councils, authority and credit from the vulnerable parts of our constitution. Corruption is a fast growing evil. It is increasing as democracy has spread and civilization advanced. A stage has almost arrived when this menace has to be accepted as inevitable and incurable as if it is the price of socialism, progress and civilization.”
No doubt in British India also corruption prevailed. In the regime of Akbar also, as per stories of Akbar-Birbal corruption was there but the ‘standard’ of the same was not very low. It had not reached to grass route to the poor person. Authorities did not ask for bribe in routine work but now days no work is being done in government departments without paying bribe by what so ever name and shape. Now a day collector does not feel shy to ask an inspector to say that he has not paid the monthly ‘Hapta’ and warns for the consequences. It is said that 10 percent of the budgetary allotment for a district goes to Collector by way of bribe so that the other officials may also have their share distributed. It is well known that Wine, Woman & Wealth and Dance, Dinner & Drinks are best ways through which one can get one’s work done. Liaison work and lobbying are another ways to get the same done.
Therefore let eat and allow others to eat (money) should be Indians’ identity. Be corrupt and let others be allowed to be corrupt. Like the Prime Minister and Agricultural Minister no one is prophet to predict when the rampant corruption may be eradicated. Long Live Corruption!!!

Corruption is a deep-rooted menace that has eaten into the vitals of our society. There is hardly any sphere of social, economic, political and religious activity that is free from some kind of corruption. It has become so common that the people have come to accept it as part of their lives.
Bribery and corruption has increased after 1947. The growth of democracy and indstury, the system of licences and permits for setting up enterprises, securing quota for raw materials, imports and exports and expansion of trade and commerce, is responsible for the increase in corruption. Stringent laws against corruption have proved ineffective in curbing this evil.
Corruption would flourish as long as there are people who are prepared to give bribes and others who are prepared to accept it, directly or indirectly. Each one of us has weakness for easy money. People are prepared to do anything or stoop to any extent to take graft in order to maintain their standard of living. People who indulge in corruption maintain double standards. They accept bribes but at the same time preach others to live an honest life.
It is not difficult to locate the causes of corruption. Corruption generally breeds at the top and then filters down to lower levels.

Corruption cannot be removed in the country, but it can be decreased to a great extent, if following suggestions are implemented:-
(1) One who protects the corrupt person or does not take stringent action against him whereas one of his duties is to get the corrupt person punished, should be given imprisonment up to five years.
(2) Properties earned through corruption by the public servants should be seized by the central and state governments. But property should not be seized of that corrupt person who has done corruption of rupees ten thousand or less then it.
(3) Details of properties of public servants should be taken every year in the prescribed proforma by the central and state governments and checked them properly. If information has been given intentionally false, penalty should be imposed on who have given false information. Amount of penalty should be from rupees Ten thousand to rupees ten lakhs.
(4) Details of properties of public servants working on higher posts should be published in the Gazette by the central and state governments every year.
(5) Persons who have given information about amassing of huge properties illegally by the corrupt public servants should be rewarded. However there should be sufficient proof to blame any public servant. The identity of person who reveals information may be kept confidential.
(6) If a person in order to harm a public servant make false accusation, then such a complainant should be punished for which law should be made.
(7) One who has done corruption of rupees one crore or more than it should be hanged.

(9) One who has done corruption of rupees ten lakhs or more than it but less than rupees fifty lakhs should be given imprisonment for ten years.
(10) One who has done corruption of rupees five lakhs or more than it but less than ten lakhs should be given imprisonment of five years.

(13) One who has done corruption of rupees hundred or more than it but less than rupees ten thousand should be given imprisonment upto one year.
(14) One who has done corruption of amount less than rupees hundred should be punished by imposing penalty upto ten times.
(15) One who has given bribe to any public servant to take disadvantage should be given imprisonment upto five years.
(16) For punishment mentioned as above, necessary laws should be made by the governments.
(17) Special courts should be established to dispose the cases of corruption as early as possible.
(18) RAILIYAN should be held by the voluntary organizations against the corruption.
(19) Saints should contribute to remove the corruption in the country.
(20) People should boycott the persons who have been punished by the courts due to corruption.

We should start correcting the habit of the evil (corruption) from the grass root. We are all corrupted. When we are caught by the cops for traffic violation even in front of our kids the first action from our side is to bribe and settle the issue. We are showing the art of manipulation to our future generation. They find it as quite normal to bribe or take bribe. The same way we deal with the income tax and land tax which common man is expressing the evil gene of corruption formed in him. So to deal with the issue of corruption we should start from the common man...
